There is planning for development going on near Somerset.  These developments will likely result in an increase in traffic and potentially in an overcrowding of our schools.  They could also have some positive outcomes such as more green space and better pedestrian and biker safety.  Two major plans Montgomery County is working on are the River Road - Westbard Sector Plan and the Downtown Bethesda Sector Plan.  The Town and other communities are actively participating in monitoring and shaping the ideas being considered by the Planning Department.  There is much information about the sector plans on the Montgomery County Planning Department website and the documents on this site.  More immediately, a developer may soon be proposing a multi-story building primarily for seniors at the Washington Episcopal School site.  The Town will post information about these projects as it becomes available.
