Coming Events
- Saturday July 31 - All Star Relays at Rockville. Warmups at 9:30 am, Meet starts at 10:00 am.
July 17: Somerset 372, Norbeck Grove 412
Since the Somerset Dolphins were seeded last this year in Division J, it is no surprise that we were unable win any of our dual meets. As in earlier weeks this season, Somerset was close for most of the way but could not quite catch the Norbeck Grove Barracudas. As has been true at all of our meets, many swam their fastet time ever. Over 70 Personal Bests were recorded, which is terrific for this late in the season.
All Star times were earned by Gavin Springer (13-14 IM, Back, and Fly), Kesh Khanna (8&U Breast and Fly), and Jack Chlopak (11-12 Back). Gavin lowered his own Somerset records in IM and Back, while Kesh set a Norbeck Grove pool record in Fly.
July 10: Somerset 359, Plantations 432
In Somerset's last Satuday home meet of the season, the Dolphins fell to the #1 seed Plantations Piranahs. Notable was the heavy rain which persisted throughout the meet, except during the backstroke. This was the last home meet for our many 18 year olds, most of whom have been on the team for more than 10 years: Duncan Kessler, Vica Kleiner, Brendan McMahon, Crystal Pickar, Jamie Reingruber, and Isaac Sorenson.
July 3: Somerset 382, Carderock Springs 402
In a meet that was close to the final two events, the Dolphins could not quite catch the Cudas from Carderock Springs. As always, more important than the outcome were the 42 Personal Bests earned by the Somerset swimmers. Gavin Springer recorded another All Star time in the 13-14 Backstroke.
June 26: Somerset 299, Lakelands 492
In a meet that was, alas, never close, the mighty Dolphins fell to the Lakelands Lionfish. More important than the score were the 59 Personal Bests acheived by the Somerset swimmers! Captain Purple made another surprise visit, but appeared to have shrunk at least 6 inches since his last sighting. Who was that masked man?
All Star times were racked up by Gavin Springer (13-14 IM and Back) and Jack Chlopak (11-12 Back).
June 19: Somerset 385, Eldwick 387
In a very close meet that went down to the wire, Somerset came up inches short against the Eldwick Sharks. On the bright side, the weather was great, Captain Purple made a surprise visit, lunch was terrific, and many families enjoyed their first MCSL meet.
Gavin Springer broke two team records held by long time Somerset Dolphin Adam Bookman (13-14 IM and Back). In addition, Gavin earned All Star times in IM, Back and Fly. New Registration Website in 2010
